OFFDAY CARD AT PIMLICO Tedema Easily Outruns Bunny Baby and Others in Headliner Juveniles In Feature Position on Maryland Program Black Boo Surprises in inthe the Third Race PIMLICO Md May 4 Outbreaking her field and leading by a wide margin all dur ¬ ing the running Tedema sporting the silks of her owner and breeder W H Lipscomb was winner of the best offering on a feature ¬ less program offered by the Maryland Jock ¬ ey Club at Pimlico today Her triumph the second of the season in three starts came in the John S Skinner Purse a test of four and onehalf furlongs which was the sixth race on the card and attracted seven juveniles to test their speed over the abbre ¬ viated distance distanceIt It was the fast beginning of the bay filly by Teddy that played an important part in the victory which brought her to the close of the contest with a lead of three lengths a margin which could easily have been greater had jockey R Merritt permitted the filly to speed along at her best pace Bun ¬ ny Baby racing for E K Bryson was the one to take place honors in a close finish with Briar Plume as Royal Rhapsody led the others of which Singing Slave was fifth and Fancy That well in advance of the only other starter Never Cease CeaseTedema Tedema was highly regarded for the short sprint and with an alert beginning showed in front by four lengths in the first quarter after which she held sway to win as her rider elected Merritt had the Lipscomb miss moving along fast after her advantage at the gate and saving ground all the way he was looking back over his shoulder through the late stages as Bunny Baby and Briar Plume added some interest to the con ¬ test when they staged a thrilling argument for second money Bunny Baby proved the best for that share of the spoils gaining her reward by a head while Briar Plume was a half length before Royal Rhapsody RhapsodyFor For the fifth day of the current meeting ideal weather prevailed for the sport and despite the unattractive card a good crowd turned out to watch the entertainment Out ¬ siders that have dominated since the open ¬ ing of the meeting were again in the ma ¬ jority several scoring at good odds oddsAnother Another lowly band sprinted for decision in the fifth event which wag also six fur ¬ longs and it saw Broadstep and Baby Witt colorbearers of George and H J Mohr first and third at the finish as Miss Tiptoe split the pair to land second honors In this a dozen faced the barrier with Small Change ruling as the choice in seventh position after cutting no figure in the running
