TWO SPECTACULAR CONTESTS lands Point Handicap Divisions Re ¬ quire Photographs at Finish Pasha Takes First Division and Strabo Second Doubles For Mrs C O Iselin Iselinand and Arcaro NEW YORK N Y May 28 A card of overnight races at Belmont Park today in ¬ cluded two features after the splitting of the Sands Point Handicap of a mile for three j yearolds Each division brought a great contest with the first going to Myron Selz nicks Pasha and the second to Mrs C O Iselins Strabo with each requiring a photo ¬ graph to make the decision decisionThere There was an unseasonable drop in tem ¬ perature and wraps were in order but a big crowd was out and the racing was spirited right through the afternoon afternoonSonny Sonny Workman had the mount on Strabo in his half of the Sands Point and all of his skill was called upon to land the Pom pey colt winner Incidentally he was the top weight of the field From a good start Gold Band was rushed into a long early lead by Saunders and Learned was second just showing the way to Cardinalis CardinalisThis This order was maintained until the stretch was reached except that Strabo was beginning to improve his position on the I outside and Carlovinian had closed some of the gap Swinging for home Gold Band was J still two lengths clear but a furlong from i home Strabo had cut the advantage to a length and while he was bearing out badly in the run home he was safely winner by a head headIt It was the skill and courage of Eddie Ar ¬ caro that enabled Pasha to vin the first half of the Sands Point Handicap for his mount seemed to be hopelessly pocketed in j the final furlong but he found his way through without faltering to land the son of The Porter winner by half a length Mrs i F Ambrose Clarks Night Bud took second j place in a camera finish with Gold Quest from the Wheatley Stable and Drudgery was just another length away awaySwahili Swahili caused some delay at the post and he vas taken to the outside where he broke slowly in rather a bad start Drudgery was j off on his toes to go into an early lead Gold Quest was next to take command and as she moved into the lead Longden swung to the inside with her and in the general clos ¬ ing up it seemed that Pasha was completely blocked The leaders came into the final sixteenth before Arcaro found an opening I twenty yards from the finish and fairly lift ¬ ing Pasha through landed him the winner
