STARS IN FAST GALIOPS Sceneshifter Flying Scot Rosemont Rosemontand and Esposa Work Well at atBelmont Belmont Park NEW YORK N Y May 28 Five in tended starters in the Suburban Handicap Monday and two candidates for the Belmont Stakes underwent important speed trials this morning at Belmont Park with the longest effort being turned in by Sceneshifter Max ¬ well Howards hopeful for the big threeyear old event Trainer Earl Sande sent the son of Sickle and Stagecraft over the Belmont distance of a mile and onehalf in 235 which was done in handy fashion Flying Scot John Hay Whitneys Belmont prospect which won the Withers after fin ¬ ishing third to War Admiral and Pompoon in the Preakness covered nine furlongs in 155 155Rosemont Rosemont which will carry top weight of 128 pounds in the Suburban had his final preparation when he went over the mile and one quarter distance of Mondays event in 208 but the most speed was shown by Esposa the Middleburg Stables candidate She was timed the mile and oneeighth in 152 handily Greentree Stables Memory Book went the same distance in 153 hand ¬ ily and the Wheatley Stables Snark in 154 also handily Aneroid owned by J H Man fusco ran the mile in 140 140Sceneshifter Sceneshifter was well rated in his long trial being timed the half mile in 48 threequarters in 116 mile in 143 and the ten furlongs in 209 doing the last quar ¬ ter in 26 Rosemont also finished out his workout in 26 for the final quarter after doing the half in 51 threequarters in 116 and the mile in 142 142Flying Flying Scots fractions were 26 51 117 and 141 while Aneroid did the half mile in 48 threequarters in 114 and the mile in 140 The Dixie Handicap winner was driving at the end endEsposa Esposa was timed the first four furlongs in 47 six furlongs in 113 and the mile in 139 She showed the most speed of any of the outstanding horses asked for trials Memory Book required 49 for the half mile 115 for threequarters and the mile in 140 Snarks time over the same distance was 49 116 and 141
