WEATHER IS UNFAVORABLE Track Heavy For Bostons Offday OffdayCard Card A CCompton Wins First FirstPurse Purse With Braving Danger BOSTON Mass May 28 A C Compton scored his first victory of the meeting as his Braving Danger raced home a head in front of Hunterdon in the mile and an eighth event which topped a featureless pro ¬ gram this afternoon It was a thrilling finish with the stretch running Hunterdon going wide at the head of the stretch to gain on the winner with every stride He missed by a head of getting up to win The others were far back backHuffy Huffy who finished third for Tobey Trot ¬ ter was six lengths behind the runnerup El Puma the choice finished fourth He bled in a recent trial trialBraving Braving Danger scored a frontrunning victory Hunterdon was sluggish and stiff going as usual in the early stages and was far off the pace Huffy chased Braving Danger closely down the back stretch and Hunterdon did not move until the far turn where he gained fast He came wide on the stretch turn when it looked as if he would go to the lead and straightened out only half a length behind Braving Danger The pair ran neck and neck down the stretch with both Shelhamer on Braving Danger and Fallen on Hunterdon plying their whips Seventy yards out it appeared that Hunter ¬ don might catch the leader but Braving Danger hung on gamery and lasted lastedThe The track was heavy for todays sport and the weather dismal and cold
