PEGGY PORTERiM THRItlER Captures Priscilla Alden Handicap Wednesdays Feature at Suffolk Cooler Weather Responsible for Crowd of 8000 Who Enjoy a Program of ofThrilling Thrilling Sport BOSTON Mass June 2 John Hay Whit ¬ neys pink and white racing colors were carried to a thrilling victory by Peggy Porter in the 2500 added Priscilla Alden Handi ¬ cap for threeyearold fillies which featured the midweek sport at Suffolk Downs today The winner finished gamely and fast under Johnny Deerings flailing gad to whip Mrs A M Creechs Miss Dolphin by half a length in the threequarters dash The latter which pulled up lame in her last race pulled up even lamer today She has a world of speed but is very unsound unsoundF F L Flanders Phlox was third as they flashed by the judges and Sun Celerina fourth The best that the highly touted North Riding an invader from New York which ruled the choice could do was finish next to last in the eighthorse field This filly set the early pace but tired when the real drive began beganNorth North Riding ridden by Eddie Arcaro dashed to the lead at once but Miss Dolphin also exhibited plenty of early speed and went out in close pursuit Deering rated the win ¬ ner a close third down the back stretch and around the turn Midway of that bend North Riding began to drop back and Miss Dolphin assumed command as Peggy Porter drove up extremely fast to challenge They came into the stretch with North Riding out by half a length but Peggy Porter was beginning to bear down in earnest by the time they reached the eighth post At the sixteenth marker she drew alongside the leader and as Miss Dolphin began to stagger went on to win the race under a slashing ride ridePhlox Phlox was well placed all the way She could not menace the leaders but closed steadily in the stretch Trina walked out of her stall and trailed all the way The time was 112 flat and the winner earned 2035 2035The The heat was broken today and the weather was very cool A crowd of some 8000 fans were on hand handj j A long shot drove home in the third as i Billy Neal piloted Mrs T Marshalls Via jero to a neck victory over C V Whitneys Bagpipe It was a thrilling finish for the secondary portion of the spoils with the Whitney horse taking that award by a short head over Admiral Gary T Graysons Aero Patrolite heavily backed was found want ¬ ing in the drive and wound up fourth Eight went
