SEE FORTHMsJiGISLATION Governor Allred of Texas to Ask AskNew New Laws Against Bookmaking BookmakingRaffles Raffles and Bank Nights AUSTIN Texas June 5 When the house and senate reconvene Monday after having sent the mutuel betting repeal bill to the governor for his signature a joint session will receive from the executive a message demanding further legislation against book making and against betting at dog races There was speculation today as to the full extent of the campaign for legislation of this type and predictions are being made that before the special session is over the reform wave will engulf all manner of speculation such as bank nights at movies slot ma ¬ chines stock market raffles etc etcSeveral Several antibookmaking bills are to be introduced and the ensuing contest may last much longer than that over race track mu tuels One of the proposed bills provides for a 1000 fine of a property owner renting to a bookmaker Another would penalize firms selling equipment equipmentIf If the attempts to impose such legislation result in a long drawn out term either Arlington Downs or Epsom Downs may take advantage of the late date of the mutuel re ¬ peal law becoming effective and stage a final meeting Houston men interested in Epsom Downs admitted that this was considered but said it would be entirely up to H D Monroe who managed the last meeting at Houston and who now is an official at Suf ¬ folk Downs DownsEven Even if the state commission granted dates either track planning such an early meeting and one which could not be followed up by others in this section until the Louisi ¬ ana season opens would probably experience great difficulty in getting a high grade of horses horsesThe The repeal bill will be effective ninety days after the closing of this special session which was called for thirty days If the entire thirty days are consumed the date of effect will be September 24 but the session likely is to be concluded by June 15 in which case the date of effect will be September 15 so any meeting for which dates are granted must be concluded by that time
