nnsiiE mm STAKEEIST Judge Joseph A Murphy Also Re veals Staff of Officials Fortytwo Days of Racing Begin at Cleye Cleyeland land Track on July 12 Eight EightRaces Races Daily DETROIT Mich June 5 Joseph A Mur phy director of racing at the Thistle Down Racing Association today made publior the announcement of the stakes and officials for the annual meeting which will be held at that track from July 12 to August 28 making fortytwo days of racing at the Cleveland course courseThistle Thistle Down was one of the great devel ¬ opments of 1936 and if it continues to im ¬ prove as the management is sanguine it will the Forest City will take its place from this year on as one of the great racing cen ¬ ters countryThe of the country The association through its racing secre ¬ tary Charles F Henry is offering an attrac tive list of stakes and features and while the minimum purse will remain at 600 there has been a marked increase in the offerings for the better class of horses horsesINAUGURAL INAUGURAL HANDICAP HANDICAPAll All of the stakes and features will close during the meeting and the complete list in the order of their running is as follows followsThistle Thistle Down Inaugural Handicap Purse 1200 1 mile 40 yards July 12 12The The Turf Handicap Purse 1500 34 mile July 14 14The The Test Purse 2500 1 116 miles July 17 v vThe The Hotel Cleveland Handicap Purse 1500 1 116 miles July 21 21The The Buckeye Handicap Purse 2500 84 mile July 24 The Hotel Hollenden Handicap Purse 1500 1 18 miles July 28 28The The Forest City twoyearolds Purse 2500 T D Course July 31 31Hotel Hotel Statler Handicap Purse 1500 84 mile August 4 Thistle Down Handicap Purse 2500 1 116 miles August 7 Great Lakes Exposition Purse 1500 84 mile August 11 11Shaker Shaker Heights twoyearolds Purse 2500 T D Course August 14 14Lakewood Lakewood Handicap Purse 2500 1 116 miles August 21 21Cuyahuga Cuyahuga County twoyearolds Purse 1500 34 mile August 25 25Au Au Revoir Purse 2500 84 mile August 28 28Endurance Endurance Purse 1500 2 14 miles August 28 28The The program calls for eight races a day and the book is now in the hands of the printer and will be issued in the next week or ten days SAME OFFICIAL STAFF STAFFThe The same competentstaff of officials who conducted the racing last year will be on hand followingStewards They consist of the following Stewards Joseph A Murphy Jack S Young and H R Allshouse placing judges Charles F Henry John Carr James F Gal ligher starter G R Wingfield racing sec ¬ retary Charles F Henry patrol judge Frank Otis paddock judges Charles Wilson and W G Kelly timer George Peterson superintendent J O Brown BrownWith With Thistle Down and Arlington Park practically the only race tracks in the mid ¬ dle west open at the time the association will be called upon to absorb many of the stables now racing at Latonia Detroit and other places and every effort will be made as far as possible to take care of those who have horses worthwhile Through the cour ¬ tesy of the North Randall management the stalls on that track which is just across the highway will be available and in this way over 1100 horses can be taken care of This will be taxed to the limit if the present applications for stalls are any indication of what the association must take care of
