HOMEWOOD FACING DEFICff Horsemen Agree to Purse Reduction Reductionat at Washington Park Weather WeatherConditions Conditions Against Track HOMEWOOD 111 June 5 Stating that Washington Park was facing a deficit Benjamin Lindheimer chairman of the ex ¬ ecutive committee of the Washington Park Jockey Club today prevailed upon horse ¬ men to accept a reduction in purse money effective Monday Meeting with a group of horsemen in the executive offices at the track this morning Lindheimer outlined a program which provides for seven races daily for purses of 900 and one each week ¬ day for a 1000 purse which was acceptable to the turfmen turfmenLindheimer Lindheimer said further he hoped it would not be necessary to make any additional re ¬ ductions and stated that if business at Washington Park increased sufficiently that the 1000 minimum purse would be restored restoredFollowing Following a slow start the Washington Park meeting reached ah encouraging peak when the laigest crowd ever admitted to the track thronged the course Decoration Day and speculation that day and last Saturday aggregated more than 1000 Since Monday however the weather has been very unfa ¬ vorable with only small crowds turning out outAt At the meeting this morning some of the owners of cheaper grade horses asked that more races for such performers be provided and the request was granted Lindheimer also advised horsemen that in the future horses stabled at Lincoln Fields would be vanned back and forth to this track at the expense of the management v
