length victory in the Yacht Club Purse at one mile which head ¬ lined todays program at Washington Park The brown son of Sickle which was mak ¬ ing his first start since the Kentucky Derby in which he finished third to War Admiral and Pompoon shouldered 122 pounds which included jockey Alfred Robertson and ran the eight furlongs in 137 over a fast but slightly dead track trackAfter After the race Robertson momentarily for ¬ got to work the colt out an additional quar ¬ ter as per trainer Robert McGarveys in ¬ structions and after about a sixteenth the thought occurred to him and Reaping Re ¬ score The Sickle colt showed a tendency to bear in on the turn and again in the run through the stretch but was somewhat forestalled in this desire through the lefthanded whipping of Robertson RobertsonAlbubble Albubble and War Minstrel also showed noteworthy performances for they battled each other for pacemaking honors after about threeeighths of a mile and while War Minstrel eventually tired from the effort Albubble hung on doggedly right down to the wire wireAnother Another to perform well was Alkit which came from a good way back to be fourth while the chief disappointment of the oped a mild surprise when Mrs A Manales North Blaze handled by Paul Ryan turned back eleven other platers in a driving finish Closing well on the outside North Blaze gnt up to score by a half length as Miss Balko raced to second place and Merry Peggy finished third Maxine B the favor ¬ ite led home the others Miss Balko had all the early speed here and finished cou ¬ rageously but was hot quite equal to the rush of the winner which was scoring her fourth victory of the year Sky Cloud showed some early speed here but gave way badly when the real racing began in the stretch stretchHal Hal Price Headleys Mamas Boy made it two in a row when he accounted for the third event in which seven twoyearolds matched strides over five and a half fur ¬ longs Second money fell to the favorite Maneuver while Blaufuss was third and Jubilesta next Mamas Boy improved his position on the inside got through on the rail entering the stretch and though bearing out continued on to score by a length at odds of 5 to 1 Jean Cloud and Jubilesta shared the early pacemaking task but both gave way badly the former finally finishing fifth Blaufuss came from a long way back in the final quarter to earn his share of the purse The winner was ridden by Lester Balaski who was handling his first success ¬ ful mount since arriving here from New York YorkTHIRD THIRD FOR BOW TO ME METhe The dickeylegged Bow to Me which sports the silks of Roscoe Goose became the first horse to score three victories dur ¬ ing the current meeting when he captured the fourth race over a mile and seventy yards Carrying 120 pounds and ridden by Leon Haas the E R Bradley castoff made every post a winning one and ran the dis ¬ tance in 142 Closest to Bow to Me at the end though beaten four lengths was All Devil while Over Yonder was third and Tenace next The heavilybacked Bow to Me set his own pace under steady restraint and when shaken up at the head of the stretch responded by drawing away All Devil passed Over Yonder in the final six ¬ teenth to get second place by slightly less than a length while Tenace was another length back in fourth position
