BOMAR STABLE VICTORY Billy Bee an Easy Winner of Motor City Purse Gyral Disappoints Backers by Poor PoorStart Start and Dull Effort at Detroit Good Program DETROIT Mich June 7 Billy Bee car ¬ ried Bohn and Markeys colors to a popular victory in the Motor City Purse sixth event and the principal offering of a sparkling card this afternoon offered by the Detroit Racing Association He came to the finish of six furlongs well in hand a length before Mrs R O Burns Bunny Martin which led H C Hatchs Canadianowned Kandahar by threequarters of a length for second secondEight Eight were under colors for the main race and although Rebekah and Miss Prudence held a good advantage over the winner dur ¬ ing the opening three furlongs Willie Saunders was only biding his time with the Bbmar Stable fiveyearold When he called upon his charge he swept to the front to establish a large and comfortable lead In the final furlong Bunny Martin charged down on the outside while Kandahar reached contention on the inside but Saund ¬ ers took the winner in hand and he was merely cantering at the end Prince Fellow which saved fourth from Lynx Eye Sun Power Miss Prudence Re ¬ bekah and Gyral had no mishaps other than that he was carrying weight equal to that of the winner Lynx Eye and Kandahar all Of which have stake victories to their credit creditGyrals Gyrals showing was a miserable one Due to his excellent performance in the Inaugural Handicap he had many backers but after beginning poorest of all he was permitted to drop far out of contention and was always a distant trailer trailerBIG BIG DISAPPOINTMENT DISAPPOINTMENTOne One of the biggest disappointments of the meeting came with the threequarters first race when B Eighty 3 to 5 choice finished third to Mrs C M Hendersons Empress Yvonne and Miss Mascara The winner and runnerup improved their positions at a steady clip and while Empress Yvonne which was handled by Joe Rosen saved ground throughout Miss Mascara raced wide to be only a nose back of Empress Yvonne and three parts of a length befdre B Eighty which tired after leading the field of twelve to the final furlong at the close closeThe The Kentuckyowned stable of Hal Price Headley furnished another winner in Doro ¬ thy Rock a daughter of Pharamond IL and Sheila Ryve which turned back Le Feu Soda Time and six other maiden juveniles in a finish that required the camera to sep ¬ arate the leaders leadersUnder Under Herb Fisher and in close quarters Continued on thirtyninth page BOMAR STABLE VICTORY Continued from first page while Soda Time and Pompeian Way domi ¬ nated the pace for three furlongs of the fiveeighths test Dorothy Rock drove through the field to have a head advantage over the fast finishing Le Feu at the close Soda Time which led the pack of nine out of the back stretch gave way to Pompeian Way when she challenged at the stretch turn but came again in fine style SPIRITED FINISH FINISHDixiana Dixiana Charles T Fishers locallyowned stable added a notch to its record here when Fly Time the homebred daughter of High Time and Pompano Girl scored her initial success in another spirited finish which the camera had to decide Lady Flash was sec ¬ ond at the end of the five furlongs dash hich served as the third race and was for maiden twoyearolds She was a nose back of the winner and two and a half lengths before Pretty Pet which garnered third hon ¬ ors by a head over Texas Boy BoyThe The winner began in a tangle from a straggling start but Stevenson soon had her in stride and within striking distance of Lady Flash which was in motion when the start came After threeeighths the Dixiana miss rapidly wore down Lady Flash FlashThe The fourth event enabled the aging Dark Seeker to score her fourth victory out of six starts this year She was an easy winner at the end of six furlongs with Inscription sec ¬ ond and Money Getter third Only six started with Money Getter enjoying favori ¬ tism over the winner winnerDOUBLE DOUBLE FOR ROSEN ROSENRidden Ridden by Joe Rosen who was completing a double the daughter of Traumer which carried E Scovilles colors followed in closest pursuit of the favorite until reaching the far turn Taking command soon after ¬ wards she held sway from there on and was well in hand a length and a half before Inscription which charged down on the out ¬ side at the finish Money Getter lasted to beat Toni by half a length for third honors
