the thefavorite favorite on the strength of his handy vic ¬ tory the other day and on his impressive private trials the son of St Germans and Twitter captured the six furlongs Rockford Purse and in covering the distance in 113 on a slow track scored by three lengths lengthsThe The Townsend threeyearold was ridden by Johnny Longden the riding sensation of the meeting who rounded out a double doublet t Closest to Total Eclipse which has started only six times in his life and only three threetimes times this year was Rude Awakening while Chi was third and Tin Devil fourth Honey Seat and El Juez rounded out the field fieldi i Total Eclipse was not too close the first quarter but he moved up steadily thereafter on the outside He moved to Rude Awaken Awakening ing which had just displaced El Juez as the pacemaker approaching the stretch and then taking command in the straightaway drew out for an impressive score Rude RudeAwakening Awakening was no match for the winner but stuck to her task long enough to save sec ¬ ond a head before Chi which raced the entire distance on the inside Tin Devil was a distant fourth and the others were well strung out as they completed the sprint J W Murphy saddled Total Eclipse which paid 520 for 2 in the mutuels mutuelsPleasant Pleasant weather prevailed for todays racing and a goodsized crowd was on hand handINVITING INVITING BY A NOSE ofthe A when the two riders Jjegan to whip each other with their riding irops Longden raised up out of his saddle to reach over and strike Wells and this may have taken his mount off his stride As it vas Inviting won by a nose Third to complete the distance was Blaze around which came from a good way back to finish six lengths off the leaders Florence M a leader for a time was fourth fourthJohnny Johnny Longden who is running away from his local riding contemporaries was off to a good start when he guided A G Tarns Swiftsport to victory in the first race a sprint at six furlongs In this case third and Pay Check fourth Tomye was in the thick of the contest for almost half the distance and then steadily gave way to drop out of the picture pictureMiss Miss Henrietta W Bingham of Louisville who races a modest stable and who main ¬ tains a breeding establishment in Kentucky provided the winner of the third event a dash at five and a half furlongs for maiden twoyearold fillies which went to Blue Har ¬ mony The daughter of Mate and La Con tessa gained a big advantage when she out ¬ broke her rivals and then held her position to the end Under the guidance of Paul Ryan she scored by a neck as Doggie Pam ran second Valdina Spy third and the favor ¬ ite You Alone next Doggie Pam was in hottest pursuit of the winner from the be ¬ ginning and though she finished gamely the best she could do was to beat Valdina Spy two and a half lengths for the place You Alone was a forward factor for almost a half mile and then began to falter losing third money in the closing strides stridesLONG LONG SHOT PAYS 19160 FOR 2 2A A handful of longshot players got a thrill out of the seven furlongs fourth race for those who backed Rich Cream had the jo of seeing her win and pay 19160 for 2 in the mutuels The victory was the first of the year for the fouryearold filly owned by Mrs M E Parker and ridden by Dee Packer Chronology was the favorite but the best he could get after a game effort was second money a nose behind Rich Cream which had shown the way from soon after the beginning Lifelike which finished in front in her last previous start only to have the purse taken away from her because ot a violation of the claiming rules was third six lengths behind the leaders Moorish was next
