YOUNGSTOWN HONORED Steel Metropolis of Ohio Given Top Position on Wednesdays Card tCrack Campaigners Named to Meet Meetin in Elks Purse and Vindicator VindicatorHandicap Handicap Large Crowd CLEVELAND Ohio July 19 The best program of the week was offered a big crowd at Thistle Down this afternoon The card honored Youngstown the steel metrop ¬ olis of the Buckeye State and 300 visitors made the trek from that city cityTwo Two handicaps both attracting small fields of five topped the sport and top notch twoyearolds sped over the Thistle Down course in the Elks Purse and fourth event eventIn In the Youngstown Vindicator Handicap fifth race and first of the dual attractions Prince Argo was the early choice despite his top impost of 116 pounds The Inau ¬ gural Handicap winner had the services of Bobby Morris and was opposed by Can ¬ descent Time Please Darby Dean and Travel Agent Incidentally Time Please Darby Dean and Travel Agent are three yearolds yearoldsBERNARD BERNARD F TOP WEIGHT WEIGHTAttempting Attempting to make amends for his de ¬ feat in the Inaugural Handicap I J Col lins Bernard F picked up the top burden of 129 pounds in the Youngstown Knights of Columbus Handicap and those to oppose him for the run over one mile and forty yards were Brown Ben Professor Paul Billys Folly and Sortie Star Porter Roberts who piloted Bernard F to his three stakes victories at Detroit was again astride the Ohiobred son of Sun God II Miss Lillian and the Kentucky boy also handled Bailee in the Youngstown B P O E Purse and fourth contest Under 115 pounds Bailees assignment was the heaviest of the field of six and he had his work cut out for him with such speedy juveniles as Aranmore Nadine Omar True Star Baby Therese and Belle James completing the field fieldAnother Another attractive program is arranged for tomorrow when the cities of Akron Bar berton and Cuyahoga Falls will be honored The feature is the Akron Beacon Journal Purse and six will run six furlongs under allowance conditions Lake View which fin ¬ ished second to Prince Argo in the Inau ¬ gural Handicap here will tote the top im ¬ post of 113 pounds and Mightily and Roidef the latter a winner here Tuesday come next under 110 pounds each Sobriety Seneschal and Jay D Bane complete the field j BETTER GRADE SPRINTERS SPRINTERSBetter Better grade plater sprinting threeyear olds will meet also at six furlongs in the AVron Knights of Columbus Purse and ten twoyearolds will compete over the Thistle Down course in the Akron Strand Theater Purse and fourth contest contestClear Clear and cool weather prevailed for the sport which was contested over a fast track Upset Macaw opened the program with a surprise when he was up to head Miss Adele at the end of one and onesixteenth miles Big Gay another outsider came from well back and on the inside to take third honors Maefleet was backed down to 6 to 5 fa ¬ voritism but after chasing Rustic Joe Co ¬ hort Girl and Miss Adele to the stretch he retired steadily and was a well beaten sixth Miss Adele wore down Rustic Joe when inside the final sixteenth but O Scurlock brought the winner down on the outside to take the decision in the final stride strideStrolling Strolling Home made it three victories in a row and despite his previous two fine triumphs furnished a big surprise in win ¬ ning the second race also at one and one sixteenth miles Distribute got up in the final stride to beat Norman D the favorite by a nose for second Fourth went to Hid denite deniteWell Well back while Dona Nutter Hiddenite and Norman D dominated the pace to the stretch and ridden by Johnny Glaug the winner drove to the front approaching the final furlong to reach the finish with a length to spare
