DAN CUPID IN SPLENDID FORn Runs Six Furlongs in 110 to Win Suffolk Downs Feature Third Victory of Meeting for Speedy Teddy TeddyGelding Gelding Wanna Hygfo Best in inJuvenile Juvenile Filly Event BOSTON Mass July 19 Dan Cupid from the stable of Miss C Morabito turned in a smashing performance to triumph in the six furlongs of the Mattapan Purse grade Cr condition affair that headlined the midweek program at Suffolk Downs The fouryearold son of Teddy sped over the distance in the sparkling time of 110 to have open daylight showing over J W Y Martins Slow Motion Unassisted from the J E Miller string after carrying the brunt of the pace lasted to take the show position from Drift Along AlongWise Wise Prince was the favorite for the Mat ¬ tapan but failed to cut any serious figure although during the late stages he was able to turn on some of his old time speed How ¬ ever he was too far out of contention to be a factor factorIt It was Unassisted which was hustled to the front gaining the lead in the initial six ¬ teenth mile Ashcroft had the winner racing under a nice hold as he held to second place Slow Motion was next and the others were strung out with Old Nassau bringing up the rear rearThe The Millerowned colt held command until reaching the stretch With little more than a furlong to be covered Ashcroft sent the Teddy gelding to the front Unassisted made a bold attempt to go along with the winner but was not equal to the task Once in the lead Dan Cupid drew out steadily and was better than a length to the good at the close Slow Motion was under a drive and inside the last seventy yards was along to overtake the tiring pacemaker and beat him to the finish by a length The others had played little part in the running and were outrun all the way wayIDEAL IDEAL CONDITIONS CONDITIONSIdeal Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the sport and the racing strip was at its best some of the fastest times of the meeting be ¬ ing hung up upC C E Simmons Henry M emerged vic ¬ torious in an extremely close race as he won the opening event by a nose over Mrs J Piciulos Ouragan Eddie Robart who sprained his ankle in a fall yesterday showed no ill effects from the accident booting a perfect race to land the winner home Short brook Farms Flying Victory landed third just a head off the runnerup and half a length in front of My Gracious Five horses charged down from the eighth post to the sixteenth marker as closely aligned as a crack cavalry team on review The time was 112 flat flatD D Rhodes Tenacious ridden by Joe Rosen scored a frontrunning victory in the five furlongs event for juveniles that was second on the program finishing two and a half lengths in advance of W E Boeings Buenos Suerte Mrs J V Stewarts Silver Beam a warm paddock tip ran third a length off the runnerup and Gold Saxon was fourth fourthLATJEPASS LATJEPASS ALL THE WAY WAYW W W Vaughans Latepass ridden by Maurice Berger led all the way and lasted it out to beat Robert Metcalfs Mr Brook by a length and a half in the mile and a sixteenth third event H and H Stock Farms Our Laddie ran third in a close tussle with Jolly Flag taking the award by a nose Latepass went to the front and stayed there That is the story of the race raceBlue Blue Marvel from J J Watts stable proved the second successful favorite of the afternoon to triumph at odds of even money At the end his winning margin could have been a much greater one had jockey Dupps desired to extend the half length margin he had at the finish Mrs J A Nixs Dinner Jacket came from considerable distance back to earn second place and G H Coyles BalloFire was third thirdGREAT GREAT SPEED DISPLAY DISPLAYT T P Morgans Wanna Hygro displayed great speed in the five furlongs Roslindale Purse for juveniles that was fifth on the program as she finished out the distance in 59 to beat C C Muirs Baby Lamb by two lengths L J Marks More Days took the third award half a length off the runner up after making the pace to the final yards Iron Bar was fourth Taylor put up a stout finish on the winner moving to second in the stretch and drawing off from all oppo ¬ sition in the final yards yardsLady Lady Genie found the mile and a half dis tance of the seventh race to her liking and had little trouble in capturing top honors Under reserve for the first mile she moved up readily when called upon moving to the front in the stretch and was better than a length in advance of Some Boy crossing thei line Some Boy came with a rush at the end to take the place in the last twenty yards from Miss Pecan
