ATLANTIC CLIPPER DAMAGED DAMAGEDNEW NEW YORK N Y July 25 The Atlantic Clipper huge passenger plane returning to the United States from Marseilles France was damaged in a landing at Horta in the Azores Sunday JanAmerican Airway of ¬ ficials announced in New York None of the Clippers eight passengers or its crew of twelve was injured as far as could be learned The mishap was the first to occur since Pan American inaugurated transAtlantic passen ¬ ger service late in June The Atlantic Clip ¬ per in command of Captain R O D Sulli ¬ van a veteran pilot was homeward bound on its ninth scheduled hop over the southern route to Europe According to word cabled to the PanAmericans offices from its base at Horta the huge ship was damaged only slightly Just how the mishap occurred was not disclosed in early cable dispatches Pan Americans announcement stated that the flying boat was damaged slightly during the landing after the flight from Lisbon Portugal
