THOROUGHBRED IN DEFENSE DEFENSEINGLEWOOD INGLEWOOD Calif June 12 That the thoroughbred industry is playing an impor ¬ tant part in the national defense program was pointed out at Hollywood Park by Lt Col F W Koester and Capt Cecil Edwards of the United States Army Remount Service They revealed that of the 4000odd horses they have purchased in California in recent years 60 per cent have been sired by race horses and that 90 per cent of all the horses in the cavalry are direct descendants of thoroughbreds thoroughbredsContrary Contrary to some beliefs LieutenantCol ¬ onel Koester and Captain Edwards said that race horses make the most desirable cavalry mounts mountsThe The Remount Service officers are here now inspecting stock for the government
