GOOD EARLY RESPONSE TO ARLINGTON FIXTURES NOMINATIONS TO FOUR STAKES CLOSE MONDAY MONDAYEntries Entries to Stars and Stripes Matron Myrtlewood and Primer Gratifying to Racing Secretary SecretaryAlthough Although the four stakes are not sched ¬ uled to close until Monday night at mid ¬ night racing secretary Bob Shelley of Ar ¬ lington Park reports that the early response from the horsemen to these added money events has been more than satisfactory satisfactoryWe We havent checked up on them as yet as to the horses weve got for those stakes because there is still time for more nomina ¬ tions to come in by mail but weve been particularly gratified by the response from horsemen in the East and of course will receive entries from all the leading stables here said Shelley in amplifying his state ¬ ment mentIt It looks as though wed have all the stables weve had in the past and several new ones with outstanding horses he con ¬ tinued tinuedThe The events which nominations close for on Monday are the 2500 added Myrtlewood Handicap the 2500 Primer Stakes the 7500 added Matron Handicap and the 10 000 added Stars and Stripes Handicap Both the Matron Handicap and the Stars and Stripes Handicap are established events on the Arlington Park stakes program the Stars and Stripes having been inaugurated in 1929 and the Matron Handicap in 1930 but the Myrtlewood and the Primer aro events which have been addeu this year yearOPENINGDAY OPENINGDAY FEATURE FEATUREFor For threeyearolds and upward the Myr tlewood Handicap is a sixfurlong test which features the opening days program at Ar ¬ lington Park The Primer Stakes is a five and onehalf furlongs dash for twoyearolds which will be run June 25 The Stars and Stripes Handicap is a mile and oneeighth race for threeyearolds and upward which traditionally features the Fourth of July program while the Matron Handicap will be the feature oh Saturday June 28 and is fashioned for fillies and mares and is run at a mile mileShelley Shelley also called the attention of horse ¬ men to the fact that these four stakes aro not the last events on the Arlington pro ¬ gram of added money events to close closeThe The Northwestern Handicap which will be run on July 2 is a 2500 added event for threeyearolds and upward over seven fur ¬ longs and will not close until June 23 The Grassland a 2500 added offering which is the first of two added money events to ba contested over the turf course closes on June 30 For threeyearolds and upward it is a mile and onesixteenth test testIn In addition ta the Matron Handicap there is also another attractive event for fillies and mares on the Arlington Park program Named the Cinderella it is a sevenfurlong stake for 2500 added and it will be run off on July 16 with nominations closing July 7 7The The feature race on the turf course is the 7500 Arlington Handicap which will be decided at a mile and threesixteenths on July 19 but for which nomination time does not expire until July 10 10The The Equipoise Mile and the Hyde Park Stakes are the last two events on the Ar ¬ lington Park program to close for nomina ¬ tions The former a 2500 added race will feature the July 23 card and nominations will close for this event July 14 The 5000 added Hyde Park Stakes is a twoyearold race at six furlongs which will be run off July 31 Nominations close July 21
