SUPREME IDEAL FIRST THROUGH DISQUALIFICATION BIG STAKES SET BACK IN AQUEDUCT CLAIMER CLAIMERFormer Former Loses Purse for Fouling Navy and Mythical King Placed Second and Third Respectively RespectivelyNEW NEW YORK N Y June 12 Big Stakes put in the keenest performance he has shown thus far in his present campaign to finish first in the mile and a sixteenth of the High Grade claimer that provided the best entertainment on todays card at Aque ¬ duct but his number came down and the purse was awarded Milky Way Farms Supreme Ideal IdealHustled Hustled to the front at the break Arnold Hangers gelding fashioned a busy pace throughout this event and flashed by the final marker with a length and a quarter to spare over Supreme Ideal However Big Stakes had fouled the Chicogoan twice in the race and when the stewards dis ¬ qualified his mount Mrs J Wesslers Navy was automatically moved into second place and Ben Whitakers Mythical King a well played favorite was placed third In the actual order of finish Navy was five lengths back of Supreme Ideal in running third and beat the public choice a nose A field of half a dozen 5000 platers competed with Supreme Ideal paying 1490 and the mile and a sixteenth run in 145 on a fast racing strip stripDOUBLE DOUBLE OFFENSE OFFENSEBig Big Stakes first offense came leaving the gate As the field drove for positions going to the clubhouse turn he came over sharply and forced Supreme Ideal to take back Mythical King who was inside Supreme Ideal suffered himself but to a lesser extent At the stretch turn when Supreme Ideal was lapped on Big Stakes the latter made a wide arc into the front path and forced Supreme Ideal even farther but butA A large offday attendance of 11027 was present for Thursdays sport which brought the second disqualification in as many days The crowd compared well with the 10381 on hand for the same day last summer Yes ¬ terdays gathering probably would have been larger only for the overcast skies and chilly weather Two riders James and Skelly were sharing saddle honors with a double for each through the running of the sixth race raceBig Big Stakes and Supreme Ideal the only threeyearolds in the race were favored with light imposts of 101 pounds but the latter was not so fortunate in drawing a post position inside Big Stakes who came angling over fast after the start while Myth ¬ ical King and Supreme Ideal went away In the lead As they reached the first turn Rob ¬ erts was forced to take back sharply on Supreme Ideal when Big Stakes came in on him himIN IN CLOSE ATTENDANCE ATTENDANCEAfter After pegging back the other1 two Big Stakes opened up a couple of lengths enter ¬ ing the back stretch where Bright View was in closest attendance Supreme Ideal and Mythical King were just behind Bright View and nearing the far turn they went to him together Mythical King taking the rail while Supreme Ideal curved outside hinr hinrBright Bright View dropped out of it and Supreme Ideal set sail for Big Stakes swinging around the turn head and head with the leader There Big Stakes took him out and collared him then moved away again through the last three sixteenths to win by a length and onequarter onequarterMythical Mythical King dug in gamely under pres ¬ sure through the last part of it but was five lengths back of Supreme Ideal at the line and dropped the show award by a nose to Navy who had trailed far back early
