KLEIG LIGHT moved up to gain command in the opening quarter, opened up a comfortable lead when leaving the back stretch and, holding on stubbornly through the last eighth, held NO SIR safe to the end. NO SIR moved up gradually in the run through the back stretch, continued to gain steadily and, while fighting it out courageously through the stretch, was not quite good enough. CANTERUP raced forwardly throughout, although failing to close any ground in the drive. LINAS SON made up some ground. PADDY showed early speed, but dropped back after going three-eighths. COUNT COTTON was unable to engage the leaders. CADET BOB, away fast, dropped back after rounding the far turn. ARDENELL was outrun. BRAS KITTY moved up gradually on the inside through the back stretch, wore down FLY GENT for the lead. drew clear and, responding gamely to pressure in the stretch, had enough in reserve to withstand the dosing bid of CATAPULT. The latter, steadied along in pursuit of the pace, made his bid nearing the stretch and loomed up threateningly on the outside of the leader, but was unable to close any ground in the last eighth. NIGHT TIDE finished with good energy after being unable to endanger the leaders early. FLY GENT, hard hustled to show the way early, tired in the last quarter. TWO O TWO moved up gamely in the stretchout broke down badly a few strides from the finish. SEE SEE, away fast, was unable to keep up. SPARROW CHIRP was never prominent. WATER CRACKER forced the early pace and dropped back suddenly after rounding the far turn. MOKANANNE was never far from the pace, disposed of REKRAB for the lead in the stretch and held him safe to the end. REKRAB, hustled to the front, drew clear and. kept under hard urging through the stretch, held on well to the close. VALDINA BANNER came willingly under hard riding through the stretch. PRETTY IS raced forwardly placed from the beginning. ATAFA, away slowly, closed with rush and finished fastest. BOOTS SHORTY was on the outside and was unable to make up any ground. OLD STAGER failed to threaten. FLYING NED was unable to enter serious contention. BONAMO was outrun. SILVER ACRES was forced to take up soon after the start. SICYON had speed from the start, met early contention from LADY INSCO, disposed of her, came wide into the stretch, lost command momentarily to TWO PAIR and came out readily in the last eighth. TWO PAIR, away slowly, moved up steadily, saved ground entering the stretch and showed in front briefly, but was no match for the winner and had to be placed to vigorous riding to hold HYEAD. The latter, steadied along early, swung to the outside in the stretch and closed with good energy. LOULANG raced forwardly placed throughout, but was unable to make up any ground in the drive. EQUIPLAY dropped back after rounding the far turn, but was making up ground slowly at the end. LADY INSCO faltered in the last three-eighths. MONTBARS was outrun. PAL was unable to reach the leaders. DAINTY FORD outran her field from the start, drew clear and, under pressure, was unable to keep pace through the closing three-sixteenths. ONE O ONE moved up determinedly nearing the stretch turn, but failed to close any ground thereafter. LIKE GREENOCK was unable to endanger the leaders. GALLACOURT, steadied along back of the pace until the last three-eighths, began moving up on the inside and, responding gamely to brisk pressure, was along in the last sixteenth to wear down MACKS MISS. The latter, in nearest attendance of the pacemaker, gained a short lead when reaching the stretch, but was unable to maintain her advantage under punishment. VALDINA GADGET moved up gradually when leaving the back stretch and came willingly in the drive. MELLOW, a trailer until leaving the back stretch, closed a good gap. VAIN BEAUTY showed speed for the first three-quarters, tiring in the drive. CRAB APPLE was never a serious threat. DAISY quit.
