MISSMAHOOT, alertly handled, took command at once and, responding to brisk urging in the stretch, held FATE safe. The latter raced in closest pursuit of the winner after the opening quarter and came determinedly in the drive, but was not good enough. LADY SPONSOR saved ground when outrun through the first half mile and responded readily when called upon, but could not reach the leaders. TOP BAND raced evenly throughout and had no mishaps. GRAY ROMANCE tired after racing forwardlv placed to the final eiehth. HERE SHE IS was unable to threaten under good handling. MACKS GEM began slowly. MUSKRAT could not keep up. MOMENTITO, well handled, took command soon after the start and, shaking off SAVAGE SAILOR after going three-eighths, continued deter- minedly to hold ROZIANTE safe. The latter saved ground while racing within striking distance of the leader to the stretch, then came to the inside for the drive and finished resolutely but could not reach the winner. SAVAGE SAILOR raced in closest pursuit of the winner to the final turn, then faltered. KATES SILVER worked her way up steadily and gave a good effort. BUDGETEER faltered when called upon for the drive. LITTLE SANDRA, on the outside from the start, finished strongly under punishment. MISS WINGWAY displayed brief early speed. GOLDEN APPEAL took command , when settled in the stretch and came over sharply in the final sixteenth, but lasted to withstand BLACK ORCHID. The latter came gamely in the final quarter, but was not good enough, pulling up sore. HAVAHEART, never far back and racing on the inside, was forced to take up sharply near the finish when the winner swerved to the inside, then closed well when clear. ARTFUL DODGER finished fast under good handling. SAMANITA faltered after racing forwardly placed to the last eighth. MISS AMANDA was away slowly and was unable to threaten. BROWN MASK was going gamely at the end. ALL TRUMPS, on the outside, tired. BRIGHT COUNT had good speed for three-eighths. Scratched 22231 All Peace, 103. Overweight Black Orchid, 2 pounds. PURPLE WRACK went to the front at once and, setting the pace to the stretch under pressure from WHITE BAIT, responded when roused on the stretch turn and drew away thereafter to win as his rider pleased.1 WHITE BAIT scured a contending position soon after the start and, racing in closest pursuit of the winner to the final turn, tired, but lasted to easily best the others. STRAIGHT THRU faltered after racing forwardly placed for five-eighths. VALDINA GNOME, on the outside from the start, failed to respond when called upon for the drive. NEAT PLAY was never a threat. QUEENS BARGE was always far back. CROSS VINE did not like the turf footing. MOHAWK LILY stumbled and fell immediately after the start. Overweight White Bait, 3 pounds; Neat Play, 1: Mohawk Lily, 2. .
