Winner entered to be claimed for ,000. WENT TO POST 2:46. OFF AT 2:47 EASTERN WAR TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won ridden out ; second and third driving. CATAPULT moved to the front while under slight reserve before the close of the first quarter, increased his lead steadily when rounding the far turn and, coming into the stretch with a comfortable lead, was not seriously threatened by the closing bid of CANTERUP. The latter went along in the first flight throughout and was gaining steadily at the end. ARGA, slow to settle into his best stride, began improving his speed nearing the turn from the back stretch and held on willingly during the final drive. COPIN made up ground after being outrun early. PLUMCOT showed speed for the first half, then tired. GREENOCKS BOY saved ground into the stretch. TRAVIS L., away alertly, was unable to keep up. GRAND DAY trailed his company early but began working his way up during the last half mile and, moving to the front with a rush in the stretch as the early leaders began tiring, drew out fast. SPARROW CHIRP, reserved until the last five-sixteenths, moved up willingly in the stretch and held on gamely to the close. TOP QUEEN, unable to keep up early, came stoutly in the final drive. RICHESTAN made up some ground. DIAVOLO CLIFF was unable to enter into serious contention. BETTYS BROOM moved up in determined fashion midway of the turn, then gave way when reaching the last turn. WIRE ME failed to threaten though under pressure. BEACON STREET showed speed in setting the pace, but faltered through the last three-sixteenths. SECRET CHATTER bore out in tho stretch. VALDINA SECRET, hard ridden from the start, began giving improved speed nearing the stretch and, responding gamely through the closing drive, wore down BRIDLEOUR in the last sixteenth to win drawing out. The latter moved up on the inside nearing thc.far turn and, after wearing down ILEFETCHIT for the lead, was unable to cope with the closing challenge of the winner. ILEFETCHIT, prominent throughout, raced MEDID into submission, but was unable to go along with the first two through the last quarter. MOKANANNE moved up determinedly in the stretch but was unable to close .any appreciable amount of ground. MEDID quit after a brief flash of speed. BUZZIE JR. raced evenly. SHASTA MAN worked his way up .steadily, loomed up threateningly on the outside in the last sixteenth and was going stoutly at the close. SNARLEYOW, forwardly plarfcd from the start, gained a short lead in the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage under punishment. DENNIS F. closed an immense gap from a slow start. OCDWICK made up some ground, although neVfer a serious threat to the leaders. OPPORTUNTY chased the pace of .NORTH BOUND for the first half, but faltered thereafter. IRRESISTIBLE moved up on the outside when rounding the far turn and, while closing willingly through the stretch, was unable to reach the winner. FLY TY held on well during the stretch drive, although never able to threaten the first two. DATE ACE, in closest pursuit of the pace, began bearing out badly after straightening out in the stretch. PAPER PLATE worked her way up on the outside through the back stretch to gain a forward position, responded gamely in the stretch, wore down BUBBLE LIL inside the last sixteenth and drew out at the end. BUBBLE LIL outran her field Jrom the start, drew away into a long lead and, while holding on willingly, was unable to cope with the bid of the winner. RECOATNA, steadied along until the last half, moved up threateningly on the outside when reaching the stretch, but was unable to better her position to any great extent in the closing drive. COVE SPRING saved ground into the stretch and held on well to the end. NOODLES made up ground during the last half. SNOW MOON, well placed early, was unable to keep up. The latter had speed from the outset, disputed the early command with BIG STAKES, disposed of him, met stern contention from PURCELLVILLE and, while holding on gamely, was unable to withstand the bid of the winner. SHAHEEN moved up on the inside until the far turn, had to be eased back, .but came willingly in the stretch run. PURCELLVILLE was prominent throughout and, on the outside of the pacemaker, was unable to keep pace and gave way in the last sixteenth. LIGHT REIGH was unable to threaten. BIG STAKES tired.
