Tyree Quits Rider Ranks ELMONT, L. I., N. Y., June 21.— Steeplechase jockey William Tyree announced Monday that he had retired from the rider ranks and would leave for his Virginia home. Tyree, who joined that branch of the sport this season, accepted his first two mounts at Belmont Park. Both horses fell and suffered broken bones forcing their destruction. They were Peat Moss and Meripolis. After studying the situation, Tyree decided there was something the matter with his riding or he was enveloped under a jinx.
