CONTORTIONIST overcame early interference and finished well. MENACE moved up in the final eighth and then flattened out. SASON finished well. GRAND WORLD had early speed. JOHNSTOWN BOY came through on the inside entering the stretch and outfinished GUSHER in the final drive. The latter was taken up at the start, came around the leaders entering the stretch and finished fastest of all on the outside. WISE BOB raced WAR DRESSING into defeat and then faltered. MATESON showed speed on the fLt while jumping baldly, blocked NORDMEER when the latter tried to go through on the inside rounding t. tar turn, bumped EEILDFARE nearing the tinal lence and then drew clear. FIELDFARE, on the outside and und r restraint, was under pressure in the late stages and tired badly. ROLLO was outrun from the stirt and had no mishaps. ST. PATRICKS DAY couM not menace the leaders. RICE CAKE was outrun. SIR BLUESTEEL had no mishaps. NORDMEER tell at the ninth and final fence. A claim of foul was h-dgid against the winner, but was disallowed. DARBY DETROIT, a prominent factor from the start, responded when urged in the late stages, disposed of the leaders and drew away. LEEWAY finished with good courage to outlast ADMIRALS CALL. The latter, between horses in the final eighth, held on well. RULING TIME, on the outside, hung sharply nearing the finish. MENEVER made up some ground on the inside.
