Report Aqueduct to Stage July Fourth Card at Belmont AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 25.— Mayor La Guardias private war against the race tracks continues, with the action largely confined to sniping. While the parking lots were open for the Aqueduct opening, the gates to these lots remained closed. The mayor found a statute in the books requiring a permit for any driveway crossing a sidewalk, and the association, never having needed one in the past, neglected to apply for such a permit today. Motorists entered the track through the stable area and reached the parking area indirectly. Sanitation inspectors were also on hand, examining toilet facilities It is reliably reported that plans are under way to stage the July 4 program at Belmont Park. This proposal is now before the state racing commission, and a decision is expected on Wednesday. The 0,000 Brooklyn Handicap is down for decision on the holiday, and it is recognized that the Aqueduct plant is inadequate to handle the huge throngh anticipated.
