Christopher J. FitzGerald Due at Santa Anita Thursday ARCADIA. Calif., June 25. — Christopher J. FitzGerald, in the sunset of one of the most notable careers in American racing, is due to arrive on Thursday from his eastern home to be honorary steward for Saturday and to crown the winner of the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap. Before a crowd that is expected u approach the record turnout of 76,649 last Memorial Day, the venerable international turf notable is returning to the stand-where he served with distinction sub presiding steward from the opening of Santa Anita in 1934 until ill health forced his retirement in 1939. The placing of the floral horseshoe and the presentation of the gold cup in the winners circle has always been made a ceremony at Santa Anita on the occasions of running the big handicap.
