REIGH STAR, sent to the front in the first quarter, was kept going under light urging when displaced, then came again under pressure to draw out at the end NIGHT EDITOR, forwardly placed, came between horses for the drive and responded to steady urging. NEVERFRET, quickest to begin lost command in the first quarter, came again nearing the far turn, then drew clear, but weakened under pressure in the final furlong. MOKUP was prominently placed and had no mishap. BELCO saved ground on the inside. PATROL PILOT was unable to keep up after being a forward factor for a quarter. SURF raced evenly. HE DONT was sent into command at once, cut out a fast pace while under a stout hold to the entrance of the stretch, then was allowed to widen his advantage to the end. ON MARCH was sent up between horses after a quarter and responded to urging in the final furlong. CROTCHETY was in hand while close to the leader, held on gamely when called upon to the final sixteenth, then faltered. GAY MARINE closed well. BUCKS GIRL closed a gap in the late stages under steady urging. KINGS LAMP had no excuse. ODD GOODS moved up on the far turn and held on well to the furlong pole, then weakened. MISS WEZIE lacked speed. FLEET BROTHER broke alertly, remained with the leaders for the first quarter, then quit. TRANSONG, unable to get through, retired steadily. SAMBA SIREN, saving ground while outrun the first quarter, responded to energetic handling entering the stretch, came between horses to gain contention, then was taken to the outside to catch THE CLEANER inside the final sixteenth and was drawing out at the end. The latter, away fast, saved ground to draw clear on the turn, then held on tenaciously under vigorous handling. JANANN W. moved up fast on the outside midway of the far turn, then drew up to challenge at the furlong pole, but faltered DREAMING was under urging early to take command, then weakened in the drive. LOW TENSION went to the front at once, was allowed to widen advantage in the first quarter, was taken in hand rounding the turn, lost the lead to SINGER FACE, was shaken up entering the stretch and responded to draw out. PRINCE CANTER worked way up on the outside and finished fastest. REX OSULLIVAN was forwardly placed throughout and failed to improve position under steady urging. SINGER FACE weakened in the final furlong after showing keen speed. PANA TAPPER had no mishap. HAPPY PAT saved ground, but was unable to menace. STAGE LINE could not keep up. WINSOME LAD was under steady restraint while racing close to the leader, moved up with a determined challenge when straightened for the drive and finished gamely. F. B. EYE, prominently placed, saved ground and responded mildly in the final furlong. LINWOOD JIM was well up from the start, only to weaken under steady urging in the final stages. OGHAM, going forwardly on the inside, was under a strong hold to midway of the turn into the stretch, responded to steady pressure to wear down BRIGHT SIGNAL inside the final sixteenth and outfinished the latter. BRIGHT SIGNAL displayed good speed in setting the pace, then held on courageously under vigorous handling. EASY CHANCE, kept well up under light urging, saved ground entering the stretch, but was unable to gain under steady pressure. RESTRICTION made up ground on the inside. ST. JOCK raced on the extreme outside and failed to improve position when called on. RING CURTAIN raced evenly. LEA FLAG had no mishap. SON ADMIRAL was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. PEACE TALK, under a tight hold while outrun for six furlongs, responded to strong handling on the far turn, continued to gain when straightened in the stretch, caught UNEQUALED in the final sixteenth, then drew out. UNEQUALED was allowed to settle into best stride, moved up with a rush midway of the backstretch, disposed of FOREVER AT IT entering the stretch, drew clear, then was weakly ridden through the stretch. FOREVER AT IT followed close behind the early leaders, moved through on the inside when SUNSHADE and TETRAFETTLE began to tire, assumed command, withstood a determined bid from UNEQUALED until straightened in the drive, then faltered. JACKIE BABS. a trailer for six furlongs, closed fast on the outside, but was unable to reach serious contention. EXCELLENCE was unable to get up. LOCAL FINANCE went evenly.
