KINGS HOPE, never far back and well ridden, raced PUNKY into defeat after entering the stretch and won going away. MESABI, a keen factor from the outset, swerved under brisk handling during the drive, could not menace the winner, but outgamed PUNKS. The latter assumed command early, made the pace until inside the stretch, then faltered. PUR SANG began sluggishly, but finished strongly. MR. NEALIE was outrun. MENDY failed to stay after showing early speed. MISTY WOODS disliked the sloppy going. WISE PROPHECY raced wide. TEDDY CHICK had no mishap. SPIKED began fast, but dropped back immediately after the start. MICHIGAN KID went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under good rating, then responded readily when shaken up and won with something left. CLOY, outrun to the stretch, finished-willingly under brisk handling. INVERCORK made a mild bid entering the stretch, then faltered. SWAY AGAIN was outrun. BROWN CLIPPER began fast, was racing prominently when her rider misjudged the finish and would have been fourth had it not been for the error. BAGUIO tired after showing early speed. MAJOR NICK was never prominent DEVILS ELBOW gave way after racing well to the stretch. DID PLAY was through early. SCHNEIDER raced well for a half mile, then tired badly. SQUARED AWAY was outrun to the upper turn, was sent up fast an the outside to take command nearing the stretch and, after establishing a good lead, won in hand. SKY RANGER dropped back near the stretch, came again when set down in the drive, but could not threaten the winner. LOOK HERE lacked early speed, but finished fast under punishment FANCY. FOOD was outrun. ROYCE began fast, raced well until inside the stretch, then weakened. CARRYALL had brief speed. JOHNIES BOBBIE was never prominent. FLYING RULES showed nothing. GRASS FIRE moved up fast after the start, crowded the field at the upper turn, then steadily increased his advantage to win with something left BY GONE DAYS raced evenly after the start, was not good enough for the winner, but easily bested the others. GLOAMING held on well in a good effort and had no mishap. BULLROCKET saved ground throughout, but failed to rally when set down through the stretch. THAT AINT HAY began sluggishly. WOODSTONE, knocked back in the jam at the upper tum, failed to recover. HI DANNY had early speed. FLEETING STAR, never far back and well handled, was sent up on the outside of OL* SKIPPER through the stretch and wore down the latter during the last sixteenth. OL SKIPPER was hustled to the front after disposing of KING BAY, held a clear lead entering the stretch and continued willingly, but was unable to withstand the winner, although much the best of the others. SUN HEROD raced prominently from the outset, made a good bid in the early stretch, then faltered nearing the finish. IRISH SUN moved up boldly at the final turn, but failed to stay when set down in the drive. HALT began sluggishly and could not reach the leaders when sent to the inside for the stretch run. COMMODORE LEA was outrun. PROVOCATIVE could not threaten. WHIRLING DOUGH was never a serious * factor. ROYAL TULIP appeared overmatched. KY. COLONEL failed to stay after showing early speed.
