AkSarBen Byline For Racing Patrons PatronsOmaha Omaha Track Offering More Comfort and Convenience at Annual MeetOpeningMay20 MeetOpeningMay20By By Staff Correspondent CorrespondentOMAHA OMAHA Nebr May 14 More comfort and more convenience becomes the byline of the 1958 AkSarBen racing season The May 20 opening of the Omaha mile oval bring to light a vast number of improve ¬ ments all planned for the comfort and en ¬ joyment of the patrons patronsE E F Pettis chairman of the AkSarBen racing committee said this years thorough ¬ bred race meeting gives promise of being the best in Midwest history The basis for Mr Pettis bigger and better theme for the 35day AkSarBen season comes from the vast number of spacious improvements and the largest purse distribution in the tracks history historyTlie Tlie improvements that fall under the heading of comfort and convenience are areThe The new skyline plaza which provides rest rooms refreshment stands and mu tuel windows at the top level of the grand ¬ stand This means there will be complete accommodations for patrons on four sepa ¬ rate levels The new pedestrian underpass from the centerfield which leads to the east end of the grandstand grandstandAdd Add ClosedCircuit TV Sets Additional closed circuit TV sets in the north end of the coliseum which will be open for additional seating on crowded days daysA A new format in racing programs which will have a vast amount of information such as the standing of jockeys and train ¬ ers winners by post positions etc etcThe The new Akspress two trains de ¬ signed the past winter by AkSarBen of ¬ ficials to give patrons lifts from the park ¬ ing lot to the grandstand grandstandThe The 750000 purse distribution for the 35day meeting will be the greatest in the tracks history The minimum purse of 2000 and larger and more stakes and overnight handicaps will account for most of the distribution increase increaseBoth Both the AllAmerica City Handicap previously the Inaugural and the AkSar Ben Memorial Handicap purses will be boosted from 5000 to 7500 this year1 The AkSarBen Futurity and the Ak SarBen Breeders Special both designed for homebred horses will carry a 5000 added money purse each having been in ¬ creased 1000 1000Two Two stakes have received increases The closing feature the AkSarBen Handicap on July 5 will carry 12500 added money this year as compared to the previous high of 10000 while the Omaha Handicap which honors the Triple Crown winner of 1935 this year will have 10000 added as against last years 7500 7500The The schedule for the 1958 season has not been changed There will be eight races daily with the exception of Satur ¬ days and holidays when there will be nine Post time is 2 00 p m GST daily except on Thursdays when the popular twilight cards will begin at 300 p m CST
