New Stables Converging On ThistleDown Track TrackSome Some 1500 Horses Already Okd For 44Day Meet Opening May 28 28CLEVELAND CLEVELAND May 14 The sport at this suburban Cleveland course where a 44day session opens on May 28 might easily be titled New Faces of 1958 According to general manager John OKeeffe some 1500 horses for this meeting more than enough to fill the available stall area have al ¬ ready been approved The runners listed represent some 185 public and private sta ¬ bles rolling in from all the active racing centers centersHowever However some 82 of these conditioners will be new at ThistleDown that is if they have never campaigned here in earlier years they did not send out starters in 1957 Most of the newcomers are from Maryland Kentucky Illinois and New Eng ¬ land and there will be a sizable contingent of Ohio regulars waiting to join the rush for the approximately 800000 in purse money being offered offeredAbout About 350 runners are due here after the close of Pimlico 100 from Lincoln Downs an equal number from Sportsmans Park land at least 150 thoroughbreds who have started at either Keeneland or Churchill Downs this spring
