THE CHAMPION FILLY OF NEW ORLEANS RACING. i r. v G. H. HOLLES MOLLIE TrtONTKOSE, CH. F, 2, BY CE3ARI0N BEZIQUE. A filly of great speed made her bow to the public at New Orleans January 19. 1907. This was the chestnut filly, Mollie Montrose, by Vsarlon Rezique. She won at the first time of asking and was the winner of eight consecutive races before meeting defeat. Her first race was at thiee-;. eighths of ,u mile and she woir "ft"ltrtW lrWtr " Lute Foster, with Black Mary a head farther back and eleven more youngsters unplaced. It was a fast track and the race was run in 35. January. 24, she defeated Lawless, Lee Ovst and ten more at three and a half furlongs, winning by a length and a half in 4.".. January she won at a half mile over a muddy track in 51$. beating Dew of Dawn a half length, with Bitterly third and nine others unplaced. February J, she met her great rival, Notasulga, for the first time and witli Nicol, wiHi 115 pounds up, gave her a beating and fourteen pounds, running the three and a half furlongs of the race in 41. Coincident was third and ten more ran unplaced. Her races so far were all for purses. February 22. she made her first start in a stake race. This was in the Martha Washington Stakes at the Fair Grounds at a half mile. With 115 pounds on each, she won from Notasulga by a length and a half in such fast time as 472, Lattice was third and eight other lillies ran unplaced. Her next start was for a purse at City Park, distance three, and . a half furlongs. This she won from Dew of Dawn, Tretwliey LTitf and eight others in 11, carrying 119 pounds. March IS she won from Dew of Dawn, Lady Caroline II. and six more at four and a half furlongs in 54g and carried 11S pounds. This was at the Fair Grounds. At the same track, March 2;., with 119 pounds up, she ran a half mile in 47g and defeated Montbert, 100, Bitter Sir, 9S, and live more lightly weighted ones. It was a new track record. Tills concluded her remarkably successful career at New Orleans and she ran but one more race. This was in the Debutante Stakes at Louisville. It was a muddy track and, after running in the front rank for a quarter, she fell away beaten and was unplaced to Ancient, Wood-lane and Black Mary. After that she was retired and was raced no more.
