BLACK PEPPER raced close up from the start and. coming fast on the outside after entering the stretch, passed the leaders and won going away. COMMISSIONER HANNON was close up from the start and raced WAR UUEEN into defeat, but could not withstand the rush of the winner. WAR UUUEN showed the most speed from the start and saved ground where possible, but tired in the stretch. STROLLING SAINT saved ground on the turns and finished well. CAPRICOLE ran well for a half mile. VAGABOND KING ran a good race. FIRST HOUR finished fast. CAITALN KIDD and GUSSIB BAIN could never get up. SALTA showed the most speed from the start and. under good riding throughout, withstood several challenges and held the race safe at the end. BEAU GESTE gained steadily on the inside and made a game challenge in the stretch, but tired after getting to the winner. GRIPPEMINAl D improved his position steadily and finished gamely on the outside. RAGWEED showed decided improvement and finished well. MILLWICK lacked early speed and lost much ground on the turns, but finished fast. NEEDLE GUN raced to the leader on the far turn, but tired after entering the stretch. MAELSTROM ran well.
