At Washington Park One Best Bet SCOTLAND FOREVER In the Sixth Race . , A rather good card for an off-day is down for decision at Washington Park today with the Frolic Purse serving as the headliner. This is over the mile course and brings out a small, but well-matched band to try conclusions. Such good ones as Jack Alexander, Banton, Minervus, David L., Magic Wand and Token, am.ong others, arc entered, and a good contest is in prospect. The Whirligig Purse is over the short five and a half furlongs distance, with some fast steppers entered. This is offered as the secondary attraction. The going is still quite muddy, with little prospects for a fast track until the latter part of the week. However, the sport continues on a high plane and todays racing should satisfy as well. SII UB ARB MIST SIN ON. A limit field of two-year-old maidens is to meet in the opener and picking the probable winner here is no easy task. However, RHUBARB has raced well enough of late to give him the call and, if he displayes his best form today, may be the one to come down in front. MIST, in his only start, showed signs of developing into a real race horse and he would need to improve but slightly over that last start to prove best in this field. SINON showed a good effort his last time out and only has to repeat that performance here to hold the others safe for the show money. SUN FRIAR is not without a chance. MONDAY MORNING MYRTLE BELLE BRUNSWICK. The veteran MONDAY MORNING is said to be ready for the issue and, if such is the case, he should find the second race a likely spot to earn a purse. He has not been to the races since the Fair Grounds meeting at New Orleans, where he was fairly consistent. MYRTLE BELLE has been bang-up in her recent starts and, in her present good form, should do as well in this field. She is not far from a winning trip and would not surprise by scoring in this event. BRUNSWICK seems to be on the improve and may do for third place. COLONEL. SCHOOLER and WILD RAKE come next in order. PRIVATE SETH APPLECROSS UP AND DOWN. A limit field is expected to go to the post in the third race, over the mile distance and engaging a fair band of platers. PRIVATE SETH is in good form at present and he can travel in the going, too. He is usually a fast starter and this should be to his unvantage in the large field. He only has to repeat his last race to add another win to his credit APPLECROSS, by reason of his last good race, which was a winning one, gets the second call, and he is apt to prove a hard one to beat. UP AND DOWN is possibly the best of the others and should account for the short end of the purse with-jout much trouble. MINO DARK PHANTOM DON DIEGO. We are picking MINO to prove best in tho Whirligig Purse, in which a mighty classy field makes the issue. The latter raced against most of the good ones at Tijuana last winter and, while he has not been started since that meeting, he has been working well, and only has to race to his trials to win this number. DARK PHANTOM is sure to improve over her initial start here, and is looked upon as the one to give MINO the most trouble. DON DIEGO raced far below his best form in his last start and is expected to show to much better advantage today. IDA ODAY, IRENE ROHAN and PREVAIL are others which rate close up. JACK ALEXANDER MINERVUS BANTON. The prevailing track conditions are made to order for JACK" ALEXANDER today, and he figures to be the one to cop in -the Frolic Purse. He usually shows to best advantage in the muddy going and, against this company, appears to be the logical play. MINERVUS has been a long time in winning a race, but he is rapidly reaching his best form and, should an upset occur, we look for this one to turn the trick. BANTON is an almost sure thing to land some part of the coin, he having been in the money in his last six starts. DAVID L. may be a bit outclassed, but he must be given consideration in his present good form. SCOTLAND FOREVER OUTLAWED BLENDED. SCOTLAND FOREVER looks much tho best in the sixth offering and, likewise, the best play of the day. He was an easy winner of his first start here and only has to repeat that last race to add another score to his credit OUTLAWED is apparently in his best form, taking a line through his winning race last week and a repetition of that effort today should find him clesest to the winner at the finish. BLENDED is not far from a winning effort and she is apt to prove a real danger should she start She is last on tha also-eligible list LAST CENT may bear watching. MYSTERIOUS LADY BRAXTED BE YOURSELF. The final number, over the mile and an eighth route, should see MYSTERIOUS proving best. She raced well in her last start at Churchill Downs and needs to improve but a little over that effort to win here. LADY BRAXTED is in fine fettle right now and is to be feared, but we think she would fare much better over a fast track. BE YOURSELF likes the going and should take down some part of the coin. THE SEER raced fairly well over the Eastern tracks and may prove troublesome in this field. PAULA SHAY is about due for an improved showing.
