The present whereabouts of Mrs. Harry "Frisco" Gardner would be greatly appreciated by A. J. Keilly of 6850 Cregier Avenue, Chicago. 111. Mrs. Gardner is the widow of the late sportsman and horseman and her address is a matter of considerable importance. Alex Gordon, in keeping with the occasion, sported his Gordon plaid cravat. He outshone some of the Highland pipers. Trainer John I. Smith reports that a half dozen of the Arden and Log Cabin Stud two-year-olds are laid up with bucked shins. Claptrap suffered a bruised heel in his last work and was withdrawn from the fourth race today. Dr. F. W. Ashe. Cuban racing official, was a visitor of the day. He leaves for Canada shortly and thence to Chicago to resume his official duties. J. H. Carstairs and A. C. Pierce, owners of the Mapleton Stud, were among the visitors from Philadelphia. They will remain over for Saturday. Barclay McFadden. a prominent sportsman of Philadelphia and a newcomer to racing, has turned over the two-year-olds Ginnys Crown and Rock Queen to J. Simon Iff Ij to train. Fred Gay, after an absence In Ocean Springs. Miss., for three years, has returned to the fold and became associated with John Walters. John Goebel was his mentor to the big city.
