Grayson; bred by Thomas Piatt WENT TO POST-5:391. OFF AT 5:41 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. NICTOR, slow to reach best stride and in close quarters during the first half, moved up resolutely when clear and, coming to the outside entering the stretch, swerved to the inside when subjected to punishment, but disposed of the leaders during the final sixteenth. ALFRED STUART, in hand and saving ground to the stretch, was bothered slightly by the winner in the drive, but could not hold the latter. DARBY DULUTH, reserved to the final quarter, suffered interference through the stretch run when NICTOR swerved and could not get to the leaders. FLORIZAN ACE, a sharp factor from the outset, reached the lead when settled for the drive, then weakened. CHERRY WINE gave a good effort and had no excuse. ECHO BEACH was outrun. VALDINA TUMBLE began slowly and never was dangerous. GOLDEN CROSS made the pace to the stretch, then quit badly. Scratched-00641 Likeable, 115.
