Dickerson Accepts Position As Starter at Detroit Track SPORTSMANS PARK. Cicero, HI., May 10.— Roy "W. "Boots" Dickerson, generally acclaimed as one of the top-ranking starters in this country, today announced that he has accepted a position to man the gate during the impending meeting at the Michigan Racing Associations new track at Detroit, Mich., which gets under way on May 25. Dickerson will leave here, where he is the starter, Monday night and on Tuesday will be on hand at the new track to set up the gate and gather his crew. Schooling will begin just as soon as these conditions are completed. The Detroit meeting will conflict for 14 days with Arlington Park. Dickerson has arranged for Bryan Steele to take over his duties during this period and he will be on hand at the Arlington Heights course before the opening. After that meeting,, Dickerson will take his crew to Homewood, HI., for the Washington Park meeting.
