M0NITA TO RACE AT NEW ORLEANS. Memphis, Tenn., January 15. "Bub" May, who Is wintering here with his string of thoroughbreds, has shipped to New Orleans for racing purposes Mou-ita, the three-year-old maiden daughter of Hamburg Eye Sweet. Many patrons of the California turf will regret to learn of the death of old Oakland, which won many a race at the old Bay District track. He was a great stretcli runner and served to give "Daggle" Smith his first start in the racehorse business. Smitii has had some bad luck of late. F. E. Shaw picked up a nail and his crack two-year-old met with an accident In the shipment from Ingleside to Oakland. There is little doubt that jockey Hildebrand Will he seen in the saddle again the coming season. No stock is taken in the story that he expects to give up riding and follow in the footsteps of George Odotn getting together a stable of horses to race In his own name. That he will make an application for a license to ride Is certain and there is not much doubt that a license will be granted him. Morning Telegraph.
