PLANNING FOR SPORT IN NEW JERSEY. " The Country Cinb; ofLakewwdr bas:,-planued- a race meeting, to be held in April, which will be the first ever held at the well-known resort, anil the first of any pretentions held in New Jersey since the closing of the tracks there a dozen years ago. The racing will be for ponies, hunters and steeplechasers and the program Includes two stakes guaranteed for ,000. George J. Gould is president of the Coutry Club and at the head of the executive committee, but the details of the meeting will he in the hands of a committee, of which II. L, Herbert, of the Polo Association, is the chairman. The course will be laid out over the golf links and will be somewhat more than a mile. Application has been made to the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association for permission to hold the meeting under the rules of that body. The added money for the meeting will be about ,000. One of the stakes will be called the Bonnie Brook Steeplechase, and G. A. Saportas, owner of the Bonnie Brook Stable, will give a cup valued at 00 to the winner.
