STEBBINS TO BE SECRETARY AT OAKLAWN. Nathanson Says Duration of Meeting at Hot Springs Plant Depends on the Tennessee Decision. . New Orleans, La., January 18. Z. G. Stebblns will leave for Hot Springs On February 1 and will act as secretary pro-tem at Oaklawn. When asked about the probable racing duration at Hot Springs, Secretary Nathanson of the Oaklawn Jockey Club said today: "The assumption that an agreement not to clash has been reached between the two jockey clubs at Hot Springs is entirely wrong. There Is no agreement, nor has there been any. Also, I understand, Sheriff Williams position is that liewlll not coerce either racing association. We will run ouf meeting at Oaklawn; as announced a month ago, regardless of what may be done at Essex Park. If the Essex Iark people commence a race meeting while Oaklawn is running, that Is their business. The Oaklawn dates are for thirty-one days or more. The length of the meeting depends upon the decision of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. If the decision of the lower court is upheld, the New Memphis Jockey Club naturally will have a spring meeting, and Oaklawn will close before Montgomery Park opens. If there should be no spring meeting at Memphis. I cannot say exactly how long the Oaklawn meeting will last."
