Sonnet ran to lier best form, followed the leaders closely to the stretch, where she came away with ease and won with much in reserve. Ancient Witch, running in improved form, closed a big gap and finished gamely. Grove Center, probably best, was away In a tangle and badly ridden, went wide throughout and swerved frequently in the stretch. Sweet Favor was speedy, but tired badly. Hand Bag ran poorly. Fancy Dress broke well in motion and set the early pace, but tired in the stretch when hard pressed. Sea Voyage fully ran his race, and a good one. at that. Fair Calypso showed speed, but tired badly in the last quarter. Jim Collins ran an extra good race for him. Affery was knocked back at the start and showed scant speed. ! Dr. Coffey ran as if much the best, began slowly, but moved up with a tremendous rush after traversing a furlong, wore down Ala Russell as his rider pleased and won cantering. Ala Russell lieat the barrier and showed fine epeed. but is faint-hearted and ceased to be a serious contender for first place after going a half mile. Joe Colson ran well and. though tiring badly, finished gamely and held Miss Leeds safe. Stockwood. strongly handled, ran in improved form and is a fairly good colt that should win soon. Macbeth was hustled into the lead from the start and jammed the others badly on the first turn, showed line speed and hung on well In the final drive. Bullfinch was knocked about and badly ridden, but ran well. The Regent tired In the last furlong. Little Scout was badly outrun throughout and is not in good form at present. Columbia Girl ran a bad race, was evidently not in good form and can do much better. Hortensia put up a good performance on the hard track. Besterling would not break.
