NOTES OF THE TURF. Waterllower, daughter of Watercress and Pansy, foaled at Raiicho del Paso, is regarded as having an excellent chance for the Oaks in England this year. The Los Angeles News says J. A. Bennct had entered into negotiations for land in Southern California with a view to establishing a thoroughbred breeding farm, but called the deal off because of the crusade against racing at Ascot Park. William Astor, in whose name the Star Riiby Irony lilly is entered in stakes in England, is the son of William Waldorf Astor. The young mans desire to engage actively in racing is approved by his father, but with the stipulation that his stable for this year shall never contain more than eight horses. He has purchased this number of two-year-olds and they are now in the hands of William Waugh.
