Matt Ilogan, i-nddenly improved, was reserved close on the heols of the pacemaker to the stretch, where he came along on the outside and passed him as if anchored. Dr. Sherman, after beating the barrier, made the most of bis advantage but, after forcing a stiff pace for five furlongs, readily succumbed to the winner, easily beating the others. Lansdown ran forwardly under a pull, but tired slightly in the closing run as If still Hhort. Loone, shuffled to the rear at the start, closed a big gap In the last half and ran a good race. Dora I. finished well, showing Improvement. Baker made up ground and finished with a rush. Olympian, probably short, showed speed for five furlongs. Scratched 59100 Barker, 103. Orchan made the running well in hand and, being never called on, was beaten on accoutit of the Inertness of his rider at the finish. Dusty Miller, after close pursuit of the stiff pace, stood a long and game stretcli drive to save third place. Bonar showed plenty of earlv speed, but failed to stay and can do much better. The Lady Rohesia got away poorly, but loomed up well at the half and then dropped to the rear. Briers wants a very slow track. Byronerdale was probably short. Ray moved up rapidly at the half into a fast going second. Royal lied liked the going and ran forwardly and gamely throughout. Wenrick was never dangerous. Albert Lnright finished close up in a good effort and Is worth remembering. Chestnut showed a good turn of speed, but failed to stay. Scratched 00450 Blackthorn, 110; 00450 Canejo, 105.
