BAIN OBSCURES THE HORSES AT OAKLAWN. Falls in Sheets During Fifth Eace Radtke Rides Four of the Six Winners. Hot Springs, Ark., February 20. This was the kind of a day that folks in these parts like to remain indoors, consequently there was a mere hand-full at Oaklawn this afternoon. Rain fell steadily during the morning and up to the fifth race. Then It came down in torrents, obscuring the horses until they were ne.iring the finish. After .the last race, however, the rain ceased and the sun came out brightly. Jockey Radtke had six mounts today, rode four winners, one second and one third. There are many liere who back his mounts, irrespective of what he rides. A number of these sent commissions to the track today while they remained down town. The bookmakers as a result, were hard hit. J. C. Milams colors were carried to victory in the first two races by Kate Zitt and Idalia. The latter performed impressively and scored an easy win over Almas Pet. Jockeys Cherry on Pickles and Downing on Miss Ferris, in the fourth race, indulged in a bumping match through the stretch. Nearing the finish Cherry struck Downing across the back with his whip. After weighing in he claimed foul. The judges disregarded the claim, hut ordered Cherry to appear tomorrow morning to explain his action in striking powniug. Arrivals of horsemen this morning from New Orleans included J. C. Calm, F. Gering, J. O. Gray and J. H. McDennott. Mordella, which won the fifth race, came with the Cahn consignment. Several horses came from Los Angeles. Jockey Aubuchon Is due here shortly from Ascot. Jockey Hildebrand is galloping horses daily at Oaklawn. He feels positive that at the next meeting of the Jockey Club lie will be restored to favor again. His weight at present is in the neighborhood of 112 pounds. Louis A. Cellas Clara Huron, which was cut down in her initial start on Saturday is in a bad way and will probably never be fit for racing purposes again. Secretary Nathauson of the Crescent City Jockey Club sent word today that four or five carloads of horses would be shipped here next week. With them will come several fair riders, which Oaklawn is badly in need of.
