Ben Lear got away fully in motion, was sharply hustled from start to finish, showed the most speed and won all the way. Cottage Maid followed the leader closely for the entire trip and finished gamely. Mayor Johnson had no mishaps, showed scant speed and seemingly is In poor form at present. Voltage ran a fairly good race. The others were never serious contenders. Montgomery had the best of the start and was skillfully ildden. led all the way and won with plenty in reserve. Maxim Gorky forced his way through a small opening at the start and followed the winner closely all the way. but was not good enough. Reine Regente showed improved form and finished going fast. Miss Emaliuc ran a fairly good race. Aladay showed a good burst of speed, but tired near the end. Helen Clawson was nearly thrown at the start by being caught In a jam. Luretta assumed the lead after going the lirst quarter and set a fast pace, raced Thistle Do into subjection and came away without being fully extended in the last furlong. San Primo saved much ground for the entire trip and outgamed Thistle Do through the stretch drive. Thistle Do was hard ridden for the entire trip and ran a good race. Tres .Toll got away well and ran forwardly for the first quarter and, when brought to a sharp drive, responded with an electric rush, caught Almas Pet twenty yards out and won drawing out. Almas Pet showed a high order of speed and established a long early lead, but overconfldence on Cherrys part cost her the race. Miss Martha ran well, was gaining fast at the finish and would have been second in a few more strides. Dave Stalil came with a tremendous rush in the last sixteenth under a hard drive and won going away. Arsenal was in front through the last sixteenth and was tiring at the end. Dave Sommers was gaining at the end. Pickles showed early speed, but was quitting in the last sixteenth. It was impossible to distinguish colors with any degree of accuracy until near the finish on account of heavy fog.
