MACY JR. WILL START IN DERBY. New Orleans, La.. March 13. Macv Jr. is now considered a certain starter in the Crescent City Derby. John Huffman, who trains him, does not express any great confidence in his chances, but his owner. Sam Lazarus, wants him to go and so he he will he sent to the post. He had only SO pounds tip today in the feature event, a handicap at a mile and an eighth, but lie had good horses to beat and beat them impressively. S. C. Hlhlreths Derby "candidate. Guiding Star, did an impressive work after the first race. Carrying 124 pounds, he went the Derby distance as- follows: 12S. 25J, 30?.. 49, 1:01?, 1:145, 1:28, 1:42J, 1:50s. This made him more supporters. Lotus Eater galloped six furlongs in 1:23. It was just a warming up, br.i some shrewd trainers expressed the opinion that it was not at all a good move. Sam Hildreth seemed especially jubilant over it. Ben Hodder was sent a mile in 1:44 handily.
