Menden secured a flying start and managed to retain a small lead throughout, scoring a lucky victory. Bonaventure got away slowly, but closed a big gap early and finished wearing the winner down. Lassen was always in forward contention, but was tiring at the end. Charley Payne, on the extreme outside, from a slow lie-giuning, finished like a shot. Como finished close up. Batidor, away badly on the inside, closed an immense gap, getting up and winning going away. Bath Beach, from a flying start, made the running to the final hundred yards before he succumbed. Princess Wheeler was lucky at the start, but mishandled throughout and finished pulling up. Robert Mitchell, on the inside deep going, was in forward contention throughout. Katie Crews also ran prominently in the worst going. Galice steadily improved her position. Marie H. tired badly. Bear Hunter ran a very bad race. Scratched 51153 Barato, 107. Blumenthal forced the early pace, but was unable to get away Irom his pursuers and tired badly in the stretch, swerving to the inside in the last furlong. Lansdown, away llatfooted. closed a big gap and is very fit. Titus II. and E. M. Brattaiu were handicapped in the going. Tam OShanter was practically left. Fred Bent ran in a good iositlon from the start, but was badly bumped by the winner midway of the stretch and tired unexpectedly in the closing drive. Merry-go-Round finished well up. Chablis moved up prematurely on the far turn and failed lo stay. .Major Tcnny had no chance with his bad rider, swerved into the. deep going and was anchored iu the stretch.
