GATES NOT DURNELLS PARTNER. New York, March 23. It was repeatedly reported !ast fall that John W. Gates was a partner with C. E. Durnell In the latters stable. Inquiry at the Jockey Clubs office revealed the fact that no partnership, as demanded by the rules, has ever been registered totweeii Durnell aud Gales. The latter, it was learned, loaned the money to Durnell to purchase several of the best horses, aud took Duruells notes for the payment of the amount.
