FAVORITES MAKE GOOD SHOWING. Backers of favorites at Ascot Park this year should have made money. A fraction better than 32 per cent, of the first choices won during the last sixty-six days January 1 to March 1" of the Los Angeles Jockey Clubs meeting. There were only five days put of the sixty-six on which there was no winning favorite. These days were January 3, S, 21; March 2 and 17. There were only six days on which one favorite won. On eighteen days there were two winning favorites; twenty-two days there were three; twelve days there were four and .three days there were five. February was the best mouth. There was no day on which there were less than two winning favorites. The general average price was considerably better than even money. The track was fast on all save twenty days. There were only three days on which it rained during racing hours. The percentage of winning favorites at the New. Orleans Jockey Clubs track for the same sixty-six days was a fraction better than 40. There were only three of the sixty-six days at Crescent on which there was no winning favorite January 20, February 9 and March 10. On eleven days there was one winning favorite; on twenty-two days there were two; on fourteen there were three; on twelve there were four and on four days there were five. The track was fast on only seven days in January, ten in February and five in Marchjust one-third of the lime. .
