GOVERNOR BECKHAM SIGNS RACING BILL. Kentucky Now Has a Law Which Will Protect the Sport From Destruction by Gamblers. Frankfort, Ky., March 23. Governor Beckham approved the state racing commission bill this afternoon, and it is now the law in this state. The Governor has given no intimation as to who will be the live commissioners, but it Is generally conceded that Colonel Jack Chinn will be one of them. It is believed the commission will bring about such clean racing that other states will adopt similar laws In the near future, the intention being to shut gamblers and bookmakers from controlling race tracks and race track regulation. The breeders who met iu Lexington and selected E. F. Clay, T. C. McDowell and J. N. Camden, Jr., as their choice for three of the commissioners have not filed their recommendations witii the Governor, probably because they wish to leave the Governor free to act as he pleases In the matter.
