Peter Pan outbroke the others and established a clear lead in the early running, which lie held and finished gamely, but was lucky towin. Paumonok ran in close pursuit from the start and was fast wearing the leader down, although swerving all over the course and being repeatedly pulled up and straightened by his less expert rider. Yankee Girl, away poorly and shut on" on the inside, came with a great rush at the end in an extra good effort. Frank Gill ran very prominently to the last sixteenth, where be tired. AVaterbury finished closing up well from the rear. Malacca closed a big gap and is very promising. Green Seal ran well. George S. Davis loomed up on the last turn and then tired badly. Timber, in rare form and very fit, was placed within striking distance of Rosebeu and, after seemingly only indulging him with the early lead, passed him as if lie was anchored when straightened for home, won under a pull and is a crackerjack. Roseben does not like this track, which cups out under his feet and is unable to do himself justice, but ran well and was easilv second best. Handzarra commenced to tire after going the first quarter, but struggled on gamely to the end. AAatergrass was outclassed, but finished well up and is wurth remembering when placed elsewhere. Adoration, crowded back at the start, trailed far in the rear and closed up with a fast, but belated stretch sprint. Baringo ran well, finished fast and earned third place under Knapps vigorous finish. AVoodwiteh ran forwardly and gamely throughout and should have been an easy third. Glamor showed early speed, but finished tiring and swerving to the outside and will improve immensely. Loyal, shut off at the start, can do better. Knight of Ehvay, much the best, was In close and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker for a mile and a half and, , when racing for the lead, was crossed by a riderless horse and nearly knocked down, then pulled up after losing ten lengths, went after the leader, which he caught and passed at the last jump, coming home alone. Tom Cogan, skillfully handled and always well up, rushed into the lead when Knight of Ehvay fell back, but readily succumbed to the latter when a furlong out. Dromedary, in forward contention throughout, met with a lot of interference at a critical moment, or lie would have been closer up and received a bad ride. Follow On, after trailing for a mile, finished well up. Little Casino was racing head and head with the winner a half mile from the finish, when Jie fell and showed a superior performance as far as he went. , Scratched 02000 Long Run, 131; 01014 Life Buoy. 132. Grenade, luckily placed from the start, stole a good lead at the half because of the slow page and, saving ground on the turns, just got home. Dainty, also favored with a good position and clear sailing, challenged gamely at the end, but tired in the last few strides as If short. Von Tromp, in a pocket under a choking pull and knocked back repeatedly, was forced to coine to the extreme outside, finished with a sensational closing sprint and was much the best. Itunnlng Water moved up rapidly in the first half and was in forward contention to the last sixteentth. where she tired palpably, was short and is a grand looker, Ccdcr-stromc made the early running, then fell back and interfered seriously with the favorite. Mandarin, skillfully reserved for six furlongs, finished well under the whip, but never seriously menaced the winner. Far AVest, again nearly left, raced into the lead on the first turn, set a stiff pace and lasted well for seven furlongs before he tired, running a good race.
