LADY SAYL0R FALLS AND IS DESTROYED. Starter Holtman Has Words With Spectators Over Gilpins Failuro to Leave tho Post. Cincinnati. O., July 6. Incidents were numerous at Latonia this afternoon. The first came in the second race when Lady Saylor, owned by William Gorst, fell shortly after the start, sustaining injuries which caused her destruction. Jockey Ohert escaped with a bruised knee. In the steeplechase Jolos fall ami the unseating of llammontree, who had the mount on Woodlyn, were happenings overshadowed by the" poor performance of Harefoot. This short-priced favorite ran a bad race. Sigmund, accorded strong support, was a handy winner over Fred Pricsmeyer. Starter Holtman was verlially assaulted by several spectators Who were incensed at the fact that Gilpin was left at the post in the sixth race. Holtman, when he recovered from his surprise, put his traducers to rout with a piece, of his mind effectually delivered. Gilpin wheeled at the rise of the barrier, and it was really no fault of the starter that he horse was left. The badge of jockey Coburn was taken up this afternoon. He was found to be in an inebriated condition while riding Blucher in the third race. W. J. Speirs will leave tomorrow for Sheepshead Bay with his small string of horses. With his consignment will go Orly, Pirate, New Amsterdam and Itacatiara. L. V. Bellew arrived today with four horses Glen Gallant, Nine, Diamond Betty and Sister Lucy. M. P. Mattingly also came in with a consignment of horses that will be raced here.
