DISQUALIFICATION AT WINDSOR. Detroit, Mich.. July 0. Four favorites, a split choice and a well backed second choice told a tale of disaster in the betting ring at Windsor this afternoon. The orowd was large and fairly swamped the eight books with money on the top choices. In the majority of the races the finishes were of tin; sensational order, the second in particular, found the first six horses so close together that the proverbial blanket could have covered them. Azele, after running a winning race all the way and only succumbing in the last stride and which finished second at good place and show odds, was disqualified for fouling St. Clair, the favorite, almost at the wire. The foul was unintentional as the colt was very tired after setting a stiff pace and was swerving under punishment. The judges, however, could take no other action. The disqualification was quite a severe blow to many, as the gelding had been "well backed to finish in the money. In the lirst race jockey Mulcahy, a diminutive lad who is just beginning a racing career, had a narrow escape from severe injury. His mount. Collision, was caught in a jam on the hackstretch shortly after the field left the barrier, and the lad was unseated. Several horses were behind him and how he escaped being crushed under their hoofs is uiiexplicable. He was all out for a while, but recovered eventually under the treatment of a physician.
